Consul General Lyle Builds Collaborative Relationships in Northern Hubei

July 9, 2009: During her recent visit to Shiyan, one of the most important automobile production centers in China, with a population of 3.5 million, Consul General Lyle was warmly greeted by Deputy Mayor Zhang Kun, a sophisticated senior banking official from Beijing until a few months ago, and the city bureau directors in charge of commercial, educational, cultural, press and copyright issues.   Consul General Lyle talked about the establishment of the new Consulate General, its services and impact, and an array of collaborative projects carried out in the Consular district.

Deputy Mayor Zhang talked about the city’s growing importance, with its dynamic automobile industry, and the stronger support the central and provincial governments have bestowed on the city’s development.   Deputy Mayor Zhang highlighted the city’s current project to build a super highway linking Xian and Shiyan in two hours for easier access to the city.  He attached great importance to Consul General Lyle’s visit and directed his subordinates to work closely with the new Consulate to build stronger ties with the U.S.
