ConGen Wuhan Champions State Alumni Networking and Media’s Social Responsibilities
August 24, 2009: Consul General Wendy Lyle met and congratulated two professors, Ji Li and Ye Xiaohua, of Wuhan University School of Journalism and Mass Communications, for working successfully with the Consulate to win a State Alumni grant to offer a series of six lectures to 3,000 Chinese students of journalism and NGOs interested in working with the media to advocate public concerns. The project, entitled “Media and Social Development,” will formally open in mid-October and feature, as presenters, Chinese working journalists, as well as writers and lawyers from Wuhan, Beijing and Guangzhou who have attended academic and cultural exchange programs sponsored by the Department of State. The project will emphasize the role of the media in promoting social and environmental concerns, and strengthen the network of the State Alumni in China.
