Central China Universities Eagerly Seek U.S. Support for English-Teaching Projects
September 23-24: In response to the invitation from Consul General Wendy Lyle, U.S. Embassy’s Regional English Language Officer (RELO) Damon Anderson and his assistant Wang Ping visited Wuhan to promote American English and introduce teacher training programs for foreign teachers of English sponsored by the U.S. Department of State. Mr. Anderson visited Huazhong Normal University and Hubei University to network with the university leadership, meet faculty members of the English Department, and deliver a lecture on how to teach/learn American English, engendering a lively Q-and-A session with up to 150 students at the two institutions. The participants eagerly solicited his advice and welcomed his frequent visits to Wuhan to give guest lectures.
