Beijing Consul General Linda Donahue Leads Embassy Consular Outreach in Central China
November 21, 2008: With the establishment of the U.S. Consulate General Wuhan, the governments officials in the Wuhan Consular District have lobbied to have visa applications processed in Wuhan. Since Consul GeneralLyle’s arrival in Wuhan in November 2007, she has made great efforts to explain to her Chinese contacts and the general public that the new post will not provide consular services until the post is authorized to have a much larger staff and substantial facilities. To make the point clear that visa applicants in central China must still go to the Embassy for visa interviews, Embassy Minister Counselor for Consular Affairs Linda Donahue and Consular Officer Travis Sevy teamed up with Consul General Lyle to offer an interactive consular outreach session to the foreign affairs officers at the governments and universities in central China. Over 80 attendees eagerly engaged the U.S. presenters to ask how to expedite the process and lobby for the new post to provide consular services as soon as possible.
