American Images: Yu Xi Photography Exhibit Celebrating the Opening of ConGen Wuhan
November 22, 2008: Working closely with Changjiang Daily and Wuhan Museum, the U.S. Consulate General Wuhan jointly sponsored a photography exhibition entitled “American Images” as part of the series of festivities celebrating the grand opening of the new Consulate General. A collection of 66 photos taken by renowned Wuhan journalist and former International Visitor Yu Xi included images of the World Trade Center Twin Towers and the Statue of Liberty, as well as Mr. Yu’s artistic renditions of scenes of American nature and people. Senior leaders of Wuhan Cultural Bureau and members of Wuhan People’s Congress attended the ceremony to jointly cut the ribbon and honor the establishment of the new U.S. Consulate General.

Embassy Minister Counselor Linda Donahue and Consul General Wuhan Lyle represented the U.S. Embassy in Beijing and the U.S. Consulate General Wuhan to endorse artistic freedom and promote closer collaboration on cultural and journalistic projects. Consul General Lyle also took the opportunity to talk to the general public attending the exhibit about the importance of the new Consulate General in building strong ties between the U.S. and central China.
